geoffrey castle

Throughout his working life, Geoffrey Castle has maintained a steady and enthusiastic commitment to Community Outreach performances, and he has been featured in an article on the National Endowment for the Arts web site “Geoffrey Castle in the Oregon Desert” for his work with juvenile inmates in a maximum security facility outside of LaGrande Oregon. With a background that includes a Cum Laude degree from Columbia University, post-graduate work at Columbia Teachers College, and three years experience with the NY Public Schools in the Bronx, Castle brings a combination of confidence and poise to any academic setting.

An assembly performance with Geoffrey Castle leaves school audiences of all ages and grade levels, from kindergarden to college, with a new understanding of the role of the violin in 20th century music, and what is possible with the instrument when combined with modern stage technology. The format is a musical concert format with stories, and openings for interaction and discussion. Discussion topics include music as a language, the history of the violin in the 20th Century, and careers in music related fields, just to name a few, all with free-flowing interaction with students and faculty.
